Then I had to download a "4.5 trunk update" because I guess Target sold an older model. Overall, I don't know why they have to make this such a complicated process to get it up and running. It's time for a software redesign, or it's time to pull the plug on the Funkeys product. It's now been stuck at 78% for 30 minutes. This game so far has been a huge disappointment for little ones. After an hour and a half, the game was ready, or so I thought. The software version that comes with it I believe is 1.4 (even older than what Target sold me) and you need to install the 4.5 "trunk update" which so far has been downloading for four hours on my computer (and I don't have a slow connection). You have to buy more characters (meaning more downloads) to advance in the game.
I got the first "Dream State" kit from Target with Bones and Drift. My kids do enjoy the design of the characters and carrying them around in their pockets, although the base of one of the characters fell off pretty quickly and I had to glue it back on. Webkinz is all web based and takes no time to start playing (however I think their design is appalling). There's also a very annoying (and documented) bug when creating a username (too tired to go into that now, please read other reviews). Funkeys is a very cool concept that's poorly executed. When the Funkeys software finally does load, playing the game is not that great.
Bones worked fine, but my kids were still frustrated by the lack of one character, so I returned it to Target.A few days later they still wanted their Funkeys, so I went on Amazon and purchased this starter kit with Scratch and Twinx. Okay, signing off. The file size of the update, 487 MB, seems ridiculous too. I had to install and uninstall twice due to download errors. Drift would not work; Funkeytown would refuse to load.
Forget about taking this right out of the box and letting your kids play with it. We'll see what happens in the morning. Funkeys trunk update still stuck at 78%. This is the second time I've purchased a UB Funkeys starter kit. I believe the reason it's so cheap is because this model is from 2007.
You get to walk around Funkeystown, but you're extremely limited as to what you can do with only one character.
My 8 year old son had to have this for Christmas, i can not load it crashed my computher i have still not been able to load this game.
This is one of my son's requests for Christmas and he is very exicted about the product. He loves the idea that you get a little bit more of the game with each funkey you have and I'm sure he'll enjoy it as he loves computer games.
He enjoys playing it, but it is sensitive, though he hasn't asked to play it lately. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it seemed to work better. My son had to have this, and used his own money. We followed the directions to a 't' to install the software, and it didn't recognize that it was plugged into the usb port. Sometimes it still says to plug in the usb when it already is plugged in.
